We believe in agape love.
Agape is an active sacrificial love that characterizes God’s nature and action towards us. This type of love can be defined as the steady intention of the will towards another’s highest good. God is the source of agape love: “We love, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
Jesus loves us with costly agape love and admonishes his followers to abide in this love and to share it with others to the laying down of our life.
- John 15:9-10 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
- John 13:35 “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
- John 15:14 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Agape love is redeeming. It does no harm and fulfills God’s law in its fullest (Romans 13:10).
We believe God’s love heals.
From agape love flows the qualities of mercy, grace, and truth which synergistically work together to heal and restore. Anyone operating in agape love becomes a healing agent. Therefore, our foremost commitment is to minister God’s divine love to help our guests receive it for themselves and extend it to others.
We believe in God’s most excellent way.
1 Cor. 12:31b – 14:1a describes agape love as a “greater” gift to be desired and God’s “most excellent way” to follow:
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.
In this life we know only in part. Yet, the Bible assures us when all things fade and fail, faith hope, and love remain. The greatest of all is love. Therefore, agape love frames everything we say and do so that all our decisions result in the highest good for those we serve.
